The campus on which the building Satyadeep has been inaugurated today is named Dharmakshetra; it is a very appropriate name, for a place from which the message of Satya, Dharma, Shanti and Prema will reach the lands parched with thirst for these pure, pellucid waters.

OUR STORY

Dharmakshetra serves as the nerve centre for spiritual and service activities of the Sai Mission in Mumbai & Maharashtra.

In the fulcrum year of the avataric sojourn, Dharmakshetra was established by Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Situated on a beautiful hillock in Andheri a suburb in Mumbai, Dharmakshetra serves as the nerve centre for spiritual and service activities of the Sai Mission in Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Dharmakshetra is the first international centre established by Sri Sathya Sai Baba outside Prasanthi Nilayam His abode in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The foundation stone for Dharmakshetra was laid on the Diwali Day, November 3, 1967, and Satyadeep – Baba’s abode in Mumbai was completed in 108 days and inaugurated in May 1968 on the holy Buddha Poornima Day on May 12, 1968.

The Sri Sathya Sai Trust founded by Baba as a Public Charitable Trust in 1967 is housed in Dharmakshetra. Dharmakshetra also acts as the nerve centre for the activities of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations – Maharashtra, our voluntary service and spiritual organisation.

Dharmakshetra - A blessing

Dharmakshetra is a holy land beyond measure, Dharmakshetra has been blessed by Baba's visit 42 times in 50 years. Between May 1960 and November 2009, Baba visited the city of Mumbai 42 times, details of each of these visits have been chronicled on this portal - the places and institutions in Mumbai that He blessed with His physical presence. the people He interacted with, the infrastructure of the organisation that He expanded, and the message that He gave on these occasions. Through these visits, He laid the spiritual foundation of the financial capital of India, to play a noble role in the Divine Mission. In nurturing this phenomenal spiritual legacy, Dharmakshetra continues to play a silent, yet vital role.
